Looks Good

Comments:

Great sunglasses, I developed a small bump on my eye that my doctor said was the cause of wind, sun, and dust exposure. So immediately, I started shopping for a new pair of sunglasses. I had a pair Smith sunglasses that I loved. They were similar to these, but are now discontinued(they opened by twisting the temple). So when I saw these I thought I'd try them out. What a difference, I didn't notice it, but compared to my other sunglasses, these have so much better protection. I adjust the nose pads so they sit real close to my face. They don't slip They have no pressure points My long eyelashes surprisingly don't touch the lens. I love the ignitor lens, there is no equivalent to this color made by Smith(If anything I will buy Smith soley because of this lens). They also don't get messy like my old sunglasses. Just GREAT overall, I don't know why I ever tried another brand of Glasses. Very well built, cool case and sleeve, and amazing value. My eyes feel better now and also, I love the way they look. I purchased the yellow ones because they were on sale. I wasn't expecting to like them as much as I did, they look much better in person. Everyone compliments them.

Wrong nose adjustment system.

About Me

Comments:

Like a million other people leaving reviews here... I have tried many brands; but, I love and am loyal to Smith products. Based on materials used, support and style I have chosen to use Smith exclusively for over a decade now. I own many pairs of Smith optics for Motocross, skiing, watersports, biking and casual. My house is also full of Smith optics for my wife and kids. I have owned many pairs of Smith sunglasses with interchangeable lenses. The new method of adjusting the nose bridge on Overdrives PivLocks creates a problem for many faces. The idea is to spread the bridge for a wide nose and larger fit or close the bridge for a narrower nose and fit. When you close the bridge, the pads pivot on a swivel and push the glasses farther from your face. This means that in the narrow mode (or for people with a narrow nose and fit) the glasses may end up sitting farther away from your face allowing air, dirt and water from a front tire and so forth to get up into your eyes. I should wear the Overdrives with the nose bridge closed to fit my nose properly and utilize the hydrophilic nose pad (non-slip when wet). However, to close the gap between my cheeks and glasses (and properly protect my eyes form air, water and dirt) I have to spread the nose bridge out. I end up losing contact with the soft slip-resistant pads. A better method would be to have the nose bridge slide sideways instead of pivoting in and out. As it stands, the Overdrive will leave a decent gap for many faces between cheeks and glasses. I would love to have the bridge spread out and still have the pads making contact with my nose. Smith only makes one pair of glasses with interchangeable lenses with a full wrap frame around the lens. This is the style that myself and many others prefer for Mtn biking etc over a blade style pair of glasses. That makes the Overdrive our only interchangeable option from Smith. The method of changing lenses and locking is better than previous models I've owned like Pivots, Mainlines and Prophets; but, the gap makes the Overdrives less functional than previous models for people with faces like mine. At the end of the day I am willing to use the Overdrive with the nose spread out and no contact with the pads. I like the quality and style. Cool glasses; but, try on first and see if they will fit your face without leaving too large of a gap. If you have a wide nose and they fit... 5 stars. If not, they're the only full frame option from Smith and therefore have an issue. 3 stars to meet in the middle. ...could Smith investigate a sliding nose bridge as opposed to pivoting? Searching the web will turn up other reviews with this complaint about the gap created when closing bridge and not fitting many faces.

I recently ponied up and bought these glasses. They are expensive, but are really like having 3 pairs of glasses, with the interchangeable lens. The quality is fantastic! I use the glasses for driving, beach, running, biking, shop glasses, etc... I have used all three lenses, and was glad that I had the different tints. They fit perfectly, didn't fog, and provide full coverage. Smith optics has a great warranty also. I would fully recommend if you enjoy quality and take care of your stuff.

Great fit, coverage, and looks.

About Me

Comments:

I have never owned a pair of glasses more suited for my face. But I do have a kind of large and slightly crooked nose. They feel natural like they were designed for me. I have to strain very hard to see the very small sliver of light on the edges of them (none on the top or bottom). On windy days or while riding they block the wind better than anything I have owned also. The only drawback is that the top portion gets sweaty pretty easy because of the proximity to my eyebrows. But that is a small price to pay for excellent coverage. I love the interchangeable lenses. The are pretty easy to change, although they are not quite as simple as the slider types. But I like the looks of the full rim better anyway. Also I love the fact that you can get RX lenses for these as well. I rotate between contacts and glasses, so that is a huge plus for me. I will be ordering RX lenses for these soon. My only real gripe is with the case. I don't think it is a very good design. It is huge for what it holds. It should either be much smaller, or have more slots for lenses. It holds the three that come with it easily, but there is a LOT of wasted space.

I'll buy a pair

Interchange lenses are what works. Style is critical. Dark/polarized is what I want for bright days, ambers for sharp detail in the trees, and clear for night riding. I've been riding Smiths for 20+ years. About to head to the store to buy a pair, but seriously missing my bazooka sliders, which styled about 100% cooler than these. Would love to see the red or green mirrors on the classic bazooka frames... Hope Smith brings them back!

Man-Do I love these glasses!

About Me

Comments:

I have been buying Smith interchangeable glasses for about 10 yrs and the Pivlock Overdirve is by far my favorite. The fit is great with the adjustable nose pads and the arms stay in place when I am Mtn. Biking. When riding during the day I get no light reflection into the eyes. I bought the grey/orange combination which is an awesome look. Have purchased the blue solex and green solex lense. I ride my longboard/ kahuna stick and road bike to work all the time and the clear lenses work great riding home at night; no gnats or spider webs in the eyes. I have had this glass for about 8 mos. and have had no loosening of the torx screws. Stop reading and start riding, with these glasses of course!

Good all-around Sunglasses

About Me

Comments:

Got these to replace my spoilers when the frames cracked. Primarily used for bike commuting and outdoor activities. I've experienced some fogging, but it clears quickly when I start moving again. The wrap fit does a great job keeping wind/water out of the eyes on fall commutes so far. I have noticed that keeping a screwdriver with a micro torque (T5) and flat driver handy helps with keeping the pivlock mechanism tight. The screws tend to loosen a bit with the amount of lens changing I do.

Love these glasses

I've had these glasses for about a year now. I absolutely love them. I am now ordering my second pair of them because my cute little puppy decided he would enjoy them more as a chew toy than I ever could wearing them. He's been the only thing to ever be able to damage them. They have survived several wildland fires, skiing, and hiking. Couldn't be happier with them.

Great fit disappointed in lenses

About Me

Comments:

Iv'e had these for about a month now, I wear them mostly for mountain biking and they work great. My only disappointment is the green lenses are getting small scratches all over just from cleaning them with the micro-fiber bar that came with them. This lack of scratch resistance is very surprising for a $200 pair of glasses. I am very careful with my sunglasses, keep them in their case and clean them only with proper clothes and still i have very thin-lined scratches.
